"Amazing, great support from faculty and encouragement from other students. After years I finally found a program that I could work around my schedule. I am a single mum with a full time job and working in a boarding school. I am grateful for the flexibility of the faculty and their ability to adjust to my circumstances - I often have had to face extended periods of loadshedding (power outs) and subsequent loss of internet connection. The faculty has been able to make adjustments for me to continue with my program."

"It has been an amazing experience. I have been known to log into the portal and work on courses in the elementary school pickup lane, during breaks at robotics competitions, or while cooking dinner for my busy family. The course hearings are a great way to show how much I've been able to learn from each course, and ask any follow-up questions I may have. The guided course offerings are a bonus, and I highly recommend taking at least one."

"So far it's been pretty good. The people and staff have been very successful and the fact that I believe the emphasis is on the knowledge itself, like actually learning the material and holding onto it and not feeling like you have to be perfect like I feel like I'm allowed to be a human and learn the way that I learn they make the people approachable and the resources accessible and there's flexibility and I just don't I don't feel inadequate anymore. I feel empowered and I feel supported. I feel encouraged and this makes me want to complete this and go for a masters."
Who would you recommend newlane to?
"I would recommend newlane in particular to people who may have struggled, not necessarily for a lack of effort, but it could be a style of learning it could be just life experience and experience to academia, and the institutions that provide education may not have been as encouraging or willing to meet you halfway there. maybe some self-esteem issues in regards to learning styles where I feel like here it's just an opportunity to really learn and master the material. There's nothing punitive about the process. the process does challenge you and it allows you to freedom to learn how you learn, but you're not getting beat up about it. It's not discouraging. It's more encouraging than anything."

Why did you choose Newlane?
"Primarily cost. I already have both an undergrad and a masters, so don't need the degree to "check the box," but I have always wanted to get a Philosophy degree and this seemed like too good of an opportunity to pass up."
Who would you recommend newlane to?
"I already have recommended it to several people, primarily those who may have completed some college but didn't necessarily finish their degree. For them, it effectively "checks the box" professionally, working within their schedule, while at the same time not breaking the bank."
