Newlane University has recently joined forces with Haiti Partners to offer an option for interested scholarship sponsors to make a tax-deductible scholarship donation that will fund Newlane students to complete their college degree while also supporting Haiti Partners’ mission to help Haitians change Haiti through education. We believe this partnership can very positively impact the lives of many.

We are thrilled to work with Haiti Partners. Our co-founder, Ben Blair, has worked closely with Haiti Partners for the past 6 years, ever since he visited their school and saw what amazing things they were accomplishing. Ben writes:

Haiti Partners has exactly the right mindset and exactly the right approach to sustainable, meaningful change, driven by a commitment to education. Of course, their non-profit status means scholarship donations can be fully tax deductible. But beyond that, I have been inspired by their steadfast work and attention to the whole child and whole community in their programs. We continue to watch and learn about supporting students from the work of Haiti Partners. Their experience working with students in a devastated cultural environment shows what is possible for students anywhere. I’m also thrilled that Newlane can extend the reach of Haiti Partners by offering a college degree, accessible through an internet connection.

We are also struck by how harmonious our missions are. This is really a collaboration where our missions are mutually supporting and reinforcing. We truly believe that in this partnership, everyone wins: scholarship donors, scholarship recipients, and the Haiti Partners’ students and community. 

To be clear, this scholarship fund sponsors Newlane scholarship recipients, regardless of where they reside–for example, these funds are not designated only for students who reside in Haiti, or have Haitian ancestry. One of the great features of donating to the Newlane scholarship fund is that, because our tuition is already affordable for most of the world, your donation goes much further than it could at a traditional university. For example, for $1500, you can sponsor a full college degree. This would be unheard of anywhere else. Looking ahead, we anticipate that individuals could set up an endowment that would fund students in perpetuity for a fraction of the cost of a single semester scholarship at another university. We are thrilled to see these types of possibilities through our low costs and joining forces with Haiti Partners means that donors get the tax benefits as well.

You can pay any amount you would like–every $1500 will provide a scholarship for a student to earn a degree through Newlane.
